Hey, I am Sean Roberts from 98.7 The Shark. One of my favorite hobbies is RACING! Ever try to see how fast you can go on a drag strip? You can do it locally…and legally!
For the amateur adventurer, you can show up with anything that is able to pass a safety inspection on Thursday nights. It’s called “Thursday Throwdown Test and Tune” and it’s your chance to race anything from the family minivan to your fast sports car. Yes, race legally! You can also show up just to watch everyone else race.
A quick visit to RACEBMP.com will show you all of the upcoming events. My favorites are the Street Outlaw No Prep Kings race in late October and the Snowbird Nationals in December. Both events will feature some of the fastest cars on the planet, with lots of wheelies and passes over 230 mph! You may even see a jet car at some events.
The best part? Drivers and teams are very approachable. You can get pictures of the beautiful cars and meet the people behind them. Many of the racers even have t-shirts that they’ll sign for you! It’s a family-friendly place to spend a day and it’s a blast! Pro Tip: The French fries at the snack stand are AWESOME!
